We are excited to announce audition details for our lavish 2020 production of 'Shrek the Musical', which will be performed from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th September at Storyhouse in Chester.

Auditions are being held on Sunday 16th February from 9:30am at Bishops’ Blue Coat High School.

Further recall auditions will take place from 4pm on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th February and all day on Sunday 23rd February.

Recall slots will be allocated after the initial audition.

Previous Castaway shows have been sell-out successes, with a professional creative team and strong production values. This year we are looking for a cast of approximately 80 young performers, aged between 11 (at the date of the show) and 25.

Shrek offers some brilliant roles, with opportunities to shine in acting, singing and dancing. For this year, the four principal characters of Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Lord Farquaad will be double-cast, but there will only be one cast for the main ensemble.

Rehearsals will run from March until September on Sundays and Tuesday evenings, excluding school holidays. There will also be a 'workshop' week towards the end of August which the cast must be available for. Not every rehearsal will involve the entire cast and a detailed schedule will be released on a monthly basis.

Castaway is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. A show at Storyhouse costs between £40,000- £70,000 to put on so as a registered charity, we do ask for a contribution towards the cost of producing our shows. This is by way of a rehearsal / show fee, which is charged at £25 per month from March to September.

If you or your child wishes to audition, please complete the simple online audition form to register your interest. Full audition information packs will be sent out to all registrants on 1st February.
